DMV Working Families Finance Fellows

Working Families is hiring Finance Fellows to support high-impact political fundraising work across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

This is a hands-on, campaign-focused opportunity for people looking to deepen their experience in political fundraising while directly supporting competitive races and progressive infrastructure in the DMV.

 Location: DC / MD / VA (Mostly remote, some in-person work required)
Duration: 4 months (Spring 2026 cohort)
Compensation: $3,000/month (1099 contractor)
Time Commitment: ~30 hours/week


Roles & Responsibilities

Finance Fellows will work closely with senior political and development staff and play an active role in day-to-day fundraising operations, including:

  • Conducting donor research and prospect identification
     
  • Building donor lists and call sheets for candidates and senior staff
     
  • Making fundraising calls and managing donor follow-up outreach
     
  • Supporting candidate and staff call time (scheduling, prep, tracking outcomes)
     
  • Drafting donor follow-up emails, thank-you notes, and fundraising texts
     
  • Assisting with planning and staffing fundraising events, house parties, and donor briefings
     
  • Supporting virtual and in-person fundraising events across DC, Maryland, and Virginia
     
  • Tracking fundraising goals, pledges, and follow-ups to ensure progress
     
  • Coordinating with political and communications staff to align fundraising with campaign strategy
     
  • Preparing internal fundraising summaries and materials for leadership
     
  • Supporting broader campaign finance and independent expenditure efforts as needed
     

This role offers real responsibility and exposure to how political fundraising and campaign finance strategy operate in practice.

Who Should Apply

We’re looking for motivated, detail-oriented candidates who are excited about progressive politics and fundraising, including:

  • Individuals with 1–2 years of fundraising experience on political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or independent expenditure efforts
     

OR
 

  • Current graduate students or recent graduates with relevant experience or a strong interest in political fundraising and campaigns
     

Additional qualifications:

  • Comfortable making fundraising calls and engaging donors
     
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
     
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through
     
  • Able to work independently in a mostly remote environment
     
  • Available for occasional in-person work in the DMV
